2017 Low Down Throw Down Roller Derby Tournament Recap

The Muscogee Roller Girls spent the past weekend in Augusta, GA participating in the Low Down Throw Down Tournament hosted by the Soul City Sirens.  In game 1, MRG seeded at #8 was paired with Athens Classic City Rollergirls, seed #1.  Thrill Orr and Rassassin made their debut playing with MRG for the first time while it was also Rassassin’s first roller derby bout ever!  MRG held their own for most of the first half, but penalties took its toll, Classic City gained momentum and never looked back.  Game 2 was a rematch against Charleston’s Lowcountry Highrollers who beat MRG last year at the LDTD.  This year MRG came ready to play.  In a game with many lead changes, MRG held the lead consistently until halfway through the 2nd half.  A stream of power jams in favor of Lowcountry sealed their win but it was an AWESOME game.  The final game played against Fayetteville’s Rogue Rollergirls was a rematch for MRG having been defeated by Rogue twice in 2015.  MRG was down a jammer due to Crush being injured, but the rest of the jammers stepped up and helped spring MRG past Rogue for the win!

Game 1 Score:    229 – 97                MVP: Rassassin

Game 2 Score:    148 – 113             MVP: Camille LeBloxx

Game 3 Score:    176 – 117             MVP: Thrill Orr
