Columbus, GA—(May 24th, 2014) In their third hometown win of the season, the Muscogee Roller Girls (MRG) claimed victory over the Beach Brawl SK8R Dolls (BBSD), with a final score of 235-176. This is the first time MRG defeated the Fort Walton Beach, FL team.
MRG quickly took the lead in the first jam, keeping a steady lead throughout the 1st and 2nd periods, despite a high penalty count. However, MRG maintained their lead to achieve their third home win, fourth in the season.
All MRG players saw success in the bout, with MVP Jammer going to Noodles and MVP Blocker going to Handislap.
The Halftime entertainment came courtesy of the Columbus Cottonmouths’ goalie Andrew Lowen, who challenged a few lucky kids and some adults to take breakaway shots. Afterwards, he showed off his dance skills by joining in “The Wobble” with a few fans. MRG celebrated their stellar win at the after party, which featured volleyball, cornhole, leg wrestling and music by DJ Mikey Jay. The team will take on the Capitol City Rollin’ Rebels for round 2 on Saturday, June 7 in Montgomery, AL.
